Ted Kennedy -in Remeberance 1932-2009

His father created the wealth. Rose his mother held the family together from 1969 till her death in 1995. Ted was the youngest of nine children three brothers and five sisters. Joseph died in world war two, John .the 35th president of the United States, died when assassinated in 1964, Rosemary who was institutionalized in 1941 after a lobotomy, Kathleen who died in a plane crash in 1948, Eunice died this year 2009, Patricia ,Robert murdered while campaigning for President in 1968 and Jean former ambassador to Ireland. Teddy was married twice . First to Virginia Joan Bennet and they had three children, Kara Anne, Edward Jr. and Patrick who became a representative from Rhode Island. In 1984 he and his wife “Joan” divorce and in 1992 he married Victoria Reggie.
The important dates in Ted Kennedy’s life were as follows:
May 1951 leaves Harvard after being caught cheating on a test.
June 1954 after serving in the army and graduating from Harvard he enrolls at the University of Virginia Law School.
November 1958 Teddy Marries Joan
November 1962 after being District Attorney for Suffolk County Mass. he runs for and wins the remainder of his brother John’s Senate term.
June 1964 He breaks his back in a plane crash
July 1969 Drive his car off the Chappaquiddick Bridge. Mary Jo Kopechne his passenger dies and he is convicted of leaving the scene of an accident given a two month suspended sentence and one year probation.
Nov 1970 he is reelected to the Senate but looses his Majority Whip position.
August 1980 After winning only nine primary’s if his run for President he withdraws his candidacy. December 1982 Divorces his wife Joan.
July 1992 He marries Victoria Reggie.
August 2009 He dies from a Brain Tumor.
During his term as Senator his largest accomplishments were a Major health bill and No Child left Behind.
